Australia Blocks Access to More Illegal Gambling and Lottery Websites

Australias telecommunications regulator, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), has taken action against additional unlawful overseas gaming and partner websites.

The ACMA’s inquiry revealed that these websites were functioning in violation of Australias Interactive Gambling Act 2001. Consequently, the ACMA has instructed internet service providers (ISPs) to block access to them.

The 14 targeted websites include Golden Lady Casino, Spin Samurai, Lucky Dreams, Comet Room, Paradiso Room, and Casino-On-Line.

“Website blocking offers a valuable chance to inform the public about illegal gambling services through the notification displayed when attempting to reach the site,” the Australian regulatory body stated.

“The ACMA reminds consumers that even if a service appears legitimate, it is improbable to have essential customer safeguards. This signifies that Australians who utilize illegal gambling services risk forfeiting their funds.”

Since it commenced requesting the blocks in November 2019, the ACMA has blocked a total of 375 unlawful websites. Over 150 illegal services have also withdrawn from the Australian market since the ACMA started implementing new illegal offshore gambling regulations in 2017.

Before its latest request,

Australias media regulatory body has made the extraordinary move of directing internet service providers to restrict access to a pair of lottery platforms. “WeLoveLottery” and “RedFoxLotto” were singled out after being discovered selling entries for lotteries not authorized in Australia but operating internationally. This instance marks the inaugural use of such a block against this category of website.
