On March 6th, authorities in Blackburn, Lancashire, apprehended 26 individuals engaged in an illegal poker game at a local establishment. Each participant received an £800 (approximately $1100) penalty for their flagrant violation of lockdown regulations. Video evidence from police body cameras revealed the assembly, which included individuals who had journeyed from distant locations such as Nottingham and St Helens to partake in the unauthorized poker competition.
Despite visual documentation, the establishment, known as Roberto’s Bar, refuted claims of the event transpiring on their property via a statement on their social media platform. Nevertheless, law enforcement officials in Lancashire are collaborating with the municipal authorities to reevaluate the bar’s operating permit. Assistant Chief Constable Terry Woods conveyed his indignation, characterizing the gathering as an affront to the healthcare professionals jeopardizing their well-being to provide care for COVID-19 patients.
