Aristocrat Leisure Posts Impressive Earnings Growth, Driven by North American Expansion and Strategic Acquisitions

Gaming behemoth, Aristocrat Leisure, announced a substantial 27% surge in its adjusted earnings after taxes (excluding the write-down of purchased intangible assets) to AU$1.09 billion (US$730 million) for the financial year concluding September 30, 2022. This remarkable expansion was driven by robust results in both its North American gaming ventures and worldwide revenue.

The corporation’s income also experienced a healthy 18% climb, hitting AU$5.57 billion. This accomplishment can be partly attributed to a 14% growth in the quantity of its high-end Class III and Class II gaming devices deployed in North America, bringing the aggregate to 31,595. Moreover, the company’s mean daily fee from these machines witnessed a 9% uptick, underscoring the appeal and profitability of its products.

Despite encountering hurdles like supply chain bottlenecks and uneven operating environments in crucial regions, Aristocrat successfully broadened its reach into several nascent markets. This encompasses venturing into the Kentucky Historical Horse Racing and New York Lottery sectors in 2022, in addition to augmenting its presence within the Canadian, Oregon, and Illinois video lottery terminal markets. These tactical maneuvers, combined with the strong showing of its core offerings, contributed to a 66% surge in the company’s direct sales within North America.

In summary, Aristocrat Leisure demonstrated resilience and flexibility within a fluid market, attaining notable financial gains and solidifying its standing as a dominant force within the global gaming sector.

The gaming leader, Aristocrat, maintains its strong hold on the Australian and New Zealand markets, driven by the sustained popularity of its MarsX platform and diverse game offerings. In a strategic move earlier this year, Aristocrat purchased Roxor, an online gaming enterprise headquartered in the UK.
