Pennsylvania’s gambling income rose by 8.9% to $467 million in July, fueled by growth in internet gaming and sports wagering.
Pennsylvania’s gambling income in July was up 8.9% from the same period last year to $467 million. This was driven by growth in online gaming and sports betting.
Pennsylvania’s monthly income in July outpaced $429.1 million in July 2022, and was up 6.0% from $440.5 million in June of this year.
Conventional slot machines remained the primary source of revenue, generating a total of $214.7 million for the month. This was up 0.4% from the previous month. In contrast, conventional table game income fell by 3.8% to $83.4 million.
Turning to internet gaming, the market saw a year-over-year income increase of 34.8% to $132.9 million. This included $94.9 million in online slots revenue, up 31.9%, and $35.4 million in internet table game income, up 48.0%.
Pennsylvania’s state-owned Hollywood Casino continued to lead the field with online gaming income of $54.4 million. Valley Forge Casino Resort came in second with $29.2 million, followed by Rivers Casino Philadelphia with $26.8 million.
Pennsylvania’s sports betting income reached $32.1 million in July.
Sports betting income also saw an increase, rising 26.1% to $32.1 million. Of this total, $29.1 million came from online betting, while the remaining $3 million came from traditional sports betting.
In terms of handle, this also increased by 0.6% year-over-year to $338.5 million.
Foxwoods and its collaborator FanDuel once more took the top spot in the industry, bringing in $13.7 million in earnings on $127.6 million in bets. In the meantime, the video game terminal market continued to face difficulties, with income dropping 7.2% to $4.4 million in July. Penn’s Marquee took the lead with $2 million in revenue for the month, ahead of Jango’s $380,910. Meadows’ Hollywood Casino and Barstool closely followed, generating $8.5 million in revenue on $88.9 million in wagers, followed by its associated property, Hollywood Casino Morgantown, also partnered with Barstool, with $1.9 million in revenue on $24.6 million in wagers. Additionally, income from fantasy sports competitions decreased 23.6% year-on-year to $655,886. Of that, DraftKings contributed $551,233 and FanDuel contributed $96,917.
